All required snow plough apparatus must be properly installed on the machines, and the machines will have to be ready to respond to a snow callout by October 15th of each contract year. The contractor shall remain in communication with the department prior to, during, and after each snowfall. The contractor shall report its hourly activities to the department through the department's online snow clearance management system. The contractor shall maintain detailed records relating to the general hiring of community residents and non-residents. The contractor shall perform the work with its own forces. The department will notify the contractor within fifteen 15 calendar days after receiving any claim for payment of any defect in the claim or the work. The contractor shall perform the services hereunder in accordance with all applicable local and union statutes, laws, codes, ordinances, regulations, rules, requirements and orders applicable laws. The initial contract term shall be one year from the date of execution with the option to renew for two additional one-year terms upon written agreement by both parties. The department shall have priority over any other similar contract held by the contractor throughout the course of the contract. The contractor shall be responsible for clearing all excess sand or other snow melt material from treated areas. The contractor shall be responsible for fuel, sand, chains, repairs, insurance, safety lighting and all other items necessary for operations. The department may at any time terminate the contract, in whole or specified part, for convenience. The contract shall be governed by laws of the land.
